2 unrelated questions

Postby outoforder » Tue Feb 23, 2010 12:04 pm

1. With all the recent snow I have been using 4WD quite a bit lately. I usually only switch between 2wd and 4hi when the car is stopped. Is it OK (for the car) to switch back and forth when the car is moving? Is there a need to stop?

2. I've seen a new 2010 pathy and it has some type of protectors on the outside edge of the doors-my 05 does not have these and I would like to get them. Anyone know what I'm talking about and where to get them?

1. Perfectly fine if we're talking about 4wd high. In fact you can switch at nearly highway speeds (check your manual for specifics). I usually will turn it on and off serveral times throughout a trip if the roads are clear, but corners or side roads are sloppy.

2. I have no idea. Sorry.

I do that all the time while driving also. The only thing is that it may not completely disengage until you stop, turn etc. Most of the time, I just get the flashing front wheels when I disengage it. As to 4L, you can't engage that while moving-it won't let you.

The "edge" of your doors? No clue. Do you have any pics?

I had my dealership fix couple of little rust spots around the bottom of the rear license plate . After they fixed it under warranty, they applied the clear tape over that area. When I asked them about it, they told me it's rock chip tape. They showed me a number of places where the tape is put on during the vehicle build. The tape works well to prevent damage to the paint in the vulnerable areas.

:D

I'm not talking about clear plastic film. I'm talking about a small rubber "sleeve" that would protect the edge of your door if you opened it close to another car or in a tight garage. Hope that clarifies.

There just edge guards... You can get them for any car at your local auto parts store...

No problem. Just go to your local auto parts store and pick some up.
