I painted the silver insert on front bumper.

I have the LE Pathy, it came with the silver insert on front bumper behind Lic. plate, I got tired of silver on my black Pathy, so I tried to remove this insert,,, NO you cannot unless you remove the entire front bumper cover, To heck with that, I got creative.. I decided to paint this insert with it still installed, and it was easy as 1,2,3, I taped off around the silver insert with blue painters tape 2" wide, this will prevent scratches while sanding.. than I used real fine wet dry sand paper, not much effort and the silver was showing through to black plastic.. not much paint from factory..I knew this was enough sanding. I also took some scotchbrite and got inside the gap between insert and bumper cover, than I removed tape and washed well let dry for 2 hrs in sun.. than I re-taped area off with paper and used wax/degreaser by wiping area clean. I used Dupli Color black paint and sprayed a coat on, NO need for primer... sprayed another 2 coats, let dry for 1 hr. sprayed another 2 coats, excellent coverage. dried for 1 hr, sprayed 2 coats of Dupli Color clear, let dry for 30 minutes,, than another 2 coats of clear and it looked awsome. dried for 15 minutes, pulled off tape and paper. Let dry over night and all day.. reinstalled Lic. plate bracket and it was a great project. Looks so much better color matched. I imagine a body shop would cost 100-150.00, cost me 20.00 Ttl.
