Need some ideas!

Postby ONAMISSION » Sun Nov 28, 2010 6:09 pm

Alright ya'll, my wife has a 09, factory front to rear luggage rack but no crossbars. We are making the annual 3 hour trip to the mountains this weekend to cut our Christmas tree. What can ya'll come up with for a quick fix to hold the tree, didn't really want to just lay it on the roof.......Thought about some 1 inch PVC with endcaps secured someway to the front to back bars.......help me out!!

PVC will be slick and hard to keep still, maybe if your in a pinch you could throw some 4' peices of 2x4s up there befor you load it an use ratchet straps to snug the tree down.

+1. The PVC will bend and be slick as Storm said. 2x4s and racheting tiedowns will do the trick. Good luck.

Sounds good, I have plenty of 2x4's and 2x2 laying around the shop. Thanks ya'll. Need to go ahead and hook her up with a roof basket so I don't have to worry about this later!
