No Heat at Idle

Postby dwoodard170 » Tue Dec 14, 2010 12:16 pm

05 LE 4WD-- 80K miles.

For some reason at extended idle no heat comes out of the vents, air turns ice cold. Same for warming up the engine in the morning. As soon as you start driving the heat is nice and hot. Any ideas what could cause such a thing? Thanks...

Danny

air in the coolant line. I had to perform the "burp" procedure on mine the other day, problem solved. Do a search on the forum you will find it.

Yea I also had to do this last year. There are rubber caps on the heater core lines, one of or the highest points of the system. I popped mine up a little bit until coolant dripped out, resecured it then after that was all good.

Have any photos or hints on the location of these caps? My rear heat isn't working and I've tried the burping procedure twice to no avail.

Yea I will try and snap a few tonight for you guys. My rear heat also wasnt working and this took care of it. As far as a hint goes, they are the lines on the passenger side towards the top of the firewall. I believe there is a cap on both lines but not 100% on that. The cap is on a little two inch section at the top of the pipe that sticks straight up. I drew a doodle that may or may not help lol. I'll try and get some pictures after work.
