whats this AUTO business?

Postby awake » Thu Feb 03, 2011 10:10 am

i was checking out another pathfinder while in for service....i believer it was a v8.....and i noticed that the switch for the 4x4/2x4 had an "AUTO" setting...

obviously, i would assume that it is RWD that switches into 4wd when it senses traction issues.....like an AWD system....

is that it? anybody have a real answer? because im just guessing...

You are correct. It is much the same as an AWD vehicle. We generally use it on ours in the rain and afterwards. It allows you to make tight turns on dry pavement without binding the driveline.

I almost never take mine out of AUTO. The traction control is so sensitive and I hate how badly the ecu cuts power.
