Tranny fluid change

Postby jose969 » Sat Mar 26, 2011 4:11 pm

I'm getting ready to change the tranny fluid in the wifes 05 PATH and I'm trying to figure out how to get all the old out before I put in the new. I'm going to put in Royal Purple ATF to replace it. Any input would be great. Thanks folks.

The only real way to get all the old out is to have the vehicle running while changing the fluid. I've seen it done, never done it myself, but basically you have to have 2 buckets, 1 with new fluid, the other to catch the old fluid. You disconnect your transmission cooling lines and put intake in the bucket full of fluid and the return line in the empty bucket to catch the old. It usually requires more fluid than normal and is usually ends up being more expensive.
