2011 Pathy; Modify headlights as DRL's?

Postby marc515 » Sat May 21, 2011 12:40 pm

Live in the USA, so our 2011 Pathfinder did not come with DRL's. I would like to modify our headlights to be on during the day like DRL's; has anyone done that?

PS: Do not want to void the warranty.

Thank you

DRL are standard in Canada and use the headlight on a lower output.

Were you going to buy a kit and just install that - in Canada if you import without the DRL you can get a kit in Canadian Tire that makes it legal, from memory about $30.

I wouldn't think it would do anything to warranty, maybe run a headlight bulb earlier - but nothing else.

here is a link to how to do using Canadian Tire kit - Toyota forum

Ok, I'm trying to use the fog lamps as DTRL's. I' ve found that on the fuse for the fog lights, when you pull the fuse the top pin is hot & the bottom is cold. If you run power to the bottom pin, the fog lights come on.
I found a wire in the fuse box that is switched. I think it's white with a green trace & purple rings. I don't know what it triggers, but if we can find a switched power source & tap into the bottom pin on the fues, it might work.
Tech or any one else - what do you think ???
