Hey All,

So my wife smoked a pothole really good, and complained about some noise when hitting bumps afterwards. I did the 'pull test' on the suspect wheel, and could definitely feel play on the front passenger wheel.

Upon further inspection, narrowed the failure down to the hub assembly. So now I'm in the market for one.

Any recommendations on low cost, quality parts? Listed on CourtesyNissan for $150. Rockauto has ValuePro units for less than $100, Timken for about 20% more than that.

Installation looks pretty simple. 4 bolts from the back.

I changed both my front hub assemblies with the Timken units from Rockauto. They seem well made. I haven't experienced any problems with them, but I've only put on ~5,000 miles since installing them. Nonetheless, I'd buy these again the next time I need new hub assemblies. Installation was super easy, though the FSM recommends that you also replace the 4 bolts as well as the axle nut and clip with new ones.

Yeah I generally have something against buying the cheapest part, especially for vehicles I plan to keep.

The price difference between Timken and the Factory part is not that huge either...

Should I do both at the same time?

I've not had to replace anything on the pathfinder, but I have used Timken parts before. They are quality parts and do a good job with warranty issues. I would not replace both sides. It won't do anything but cost you more money at the moment. I would wait until it needs replacement.

This is one of those things if it ain't.broke don't fix it. Unless your wife is slamming potholes the chance the other side goes out isn't that great.

Well the job is done. I ended up buying locally, a National Bearings unit from Partsource. Listed at $274.99, we got them down to $219.99 + tax using another local price that was lower (just didn't have stock).

The hardest part was getting the damn Deutsch connector from the wheel sensor off. I wanted to take care to ensure I didn't break the vehicle side of the connector. Those deutsch connectors are crap once there is dirt in them.

Anyways the problem went away, so its all good.
