Could leaving your AC on, fail inspection?

Could leaving your AC on, fail inspection?

Postby Nissan pathfinder1993 » Sat May 28, 2011 5:30 am

OK guys,
I just took in my 93 Nissan Pathfinder for inspection in NJ. (proud 213K on it.)(cross country 5x).

It was hot and I had the AC on while waiting in line.

When my turn came up the fan was off but left the AC button engaged.

Everything else passed but the normal idle.

Here was the reading.

Reading for HC ppm was 271 it should be 220

CO% reading 1.27 where it should be 1.20

I notice that I forgot to turn the AC off when I was driving away.

I changed the air filter. Changed the oil and even cleaned the carv. before going in for the test.

Could the extra load on the engine cause those reading?

Thanks in advance for your help.

With the a/c on, your rpms are increased which would give you a higher idle.
