Synthetic Oils

What does everyone run for the rear diff and engine oil?

Amsoil?
Royal Purple?
Mobil 1?

What weight rear diff fluid?

Engine Oil: Mobil 1 5W-30
Rear Diff: Royal Purple MaxGear 75W-90

No way of knowing if they're the right choice, but it's what I run. Mobil 1 is cheap in 5 gallon containers, and Royal Purple has somehow gotten me to believe they're best for gear oils.

I run the same as LittleStevie although I haven't switched out the rear diff on the PF yet. I've run amsoil in the past but personally think any synthetic is overkill for a normal use vehicle, so I go with the most economical. I'll never keep a vehicle 300-400k+ miles where it might make a difference. I like to service about every 7,500-10,000 miles regardless.

I mostly run synthetics for the gas mileage increase. Not so much for longevity.

Quaker State Ultimate Durability - full synthetic oil
You can get a 5 quart container at Walmart for around $20.

I have not tried it on the pathfinder yet, just bought it on friday (have a little over 300mi on the OD). On my 2001 ford ranger I changed everything from engine to rear diff over and picked up 4 mpg. So from 16 mpg to 20mpg highway. I own my own company so i get Amsoil at cost, that is the main reason that i run it over other synthetics but i would imagine that it is not just Amsoil that gives good MPG gains other wise they would be the only ones selling synthetic ;-)

coming from the BMW world (which i have not completely left since that is what i work on everyday) there is little to no gain going from stock oils to Amsoil since BMW's come with synthetic in them already.

I use Mobil 1 full synethic 5W-30 motor oil in my pathfinder. I usually replace it every 6k but I'm considering going 7.5k between changes. When I replaced my gear oil a while back I also used Mobil 1 synethic, 75W-90 I believe. No problems with either one. I have found Mobil 1 to be a good value. It's quality but not nearly the cost of Royal Purple or Amsoil. My .02

$23 at walmart for a 5 quart jug. The diff oil was about 10 for a quart.

Costco currently has a coupon in their book (good through July 3rd) for $9.00 off per box of 6, limit 3

I plan to use Mobil 1, or other name brand synthetic; which ever is lower cost, and will change somewhere in the 5,000 mile range as we tow a camper.

In my 2002 S-10, I use synthetic, with the Fram 10,000 Extended Guard oil filter, and change the oil & filter every 10,000 miles; have 104,000 on her now, and still running strong.

Stopped in NAPA to get oil/filter and they're having a sale this month on Mobil 1. $4.99/quart which even beats the Costco price at the moment. I bought some extra for the next change as well.

Amsoil is around the same price for their OE synthetic oil. If anyone is interested let me know, mobil 1 is more expensive everywhere i have gone down here. . .
