no tail lights when towing.

Postby cliffclop » Mon Aug 08, 2011 2:44 am

Hi all, whenever I tow my caravan, the tail lights go on my 2007 pathfinder. It went into the dealer last time as it was under warranty. Don't know what they did, but seem to remember something about a stop light switch? Bulbs are ok, and cant find a fuse in either of the fuse boxes. It's a 2.5 diesel, and a uk model. Any ideas please? :(

is your caravan a type of trailer then? If so there is likely a short in the trailer wiring causing the problem in the pathy.

Does your caravan brake lights go on when hooked up? I would think the trailer light hook-up wiring isn't directly connected to the car's brake lights so it shouldn't cause them to stop working. I'm sure the Nissan tech has a wiring diagram to show where the trailer hook up wire connect to the car's regular braking wires. Is there some bypass switch that it bypasses the car's brake lights when the trailer is hooked up?
