5.6 Spark Plugs?

Postby 2fs2ns » Wed Aug 17, 2011 8:00 am

Can't find an FSM for my '08 with the 5.6. NGK's site recommends the DILFR5C11/5443 - OE Laser Iridium. Can anyone confirm this for me before I drop the $?

I've also seen the PLFR5A-11 6240 NGK Laser Platinum's are the recommended plugs.

I've searched this site and suprisingly nothing came up with those part numbers.

Thanks!

I'm not sure either. I only have 30k on mine. Have you tried pulling out 1 plug up front and see what is written on the side of the plug? Might be the best opition.

I'm going to do just that. I want to check on their condition anyway.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. The 5.8L are harder to find on this forum and even less information about them. Let me know what you find out on the brand and number spark plug.

By chance have you tried looking in the owners manual? Sometimes they are listed in that.

That's stupid. I know my old Nissan truck told me that info just in the owners manual. Times change.

Ok, here's what I've found, what do you guys think?

The text on the plug reads NGK IR on one side, and DILFR5A 11 on the other.

Ok. NGK IR=NGK brand, IR=Iridium plugs. Spark plugs come in copper (basic), platnium (middle), and Iridium (newest).

the DILFR5A is the NGK part number.

Thanks, that's what I'll get.

Any opinions on the condition of my plugs? The NGK tech said there'd be metal flakes on the plug if detonation was occurring. There were some black spots, but I'm not sure what they might be.

The plugs don't look too bad. However with the miles that you have and now that you have them pulled, replacing them would be the best thing for you. It won't hurt!

Advance Auto Parts has a coupon code, saves 15% at time of purchase, and they mail you a coupon for $50 off a future purchase of $100 or more.

Total is like $114 for 8 plugs.
