New to Pathfinder...what do I need to know?

Postby digs5567 » Fri Oct 07, 2011 1:19 pm

Just came home from the dealership with a 2006 Pathfinder SE 4X4. Bought it for 11k and it has 102,000 miles on it. Was wondering what are the things that I need to know and what needs to be done? I was reading about the Transmission/radiator problems. The dealership is fixing the tire pressure sensor as well as doing the ECM Relay recall.

I already own a 2005 Spec V Sentra and am excited to have both of our cars in the Nissan family (huge upgrade from the Saturn Vue that we traded in for the Pathfinder).

Thanks for your responses!

I'm sure you'll see issues that are common to the Path on this forum, but no more so than any other car or truck. We've had our 08 PF for just over a year now and no major issues (have an extended warranty through CarMax just in case).

I'm surprised you bought a car of that age and mileage through a dealership, around here those would be wholesaled. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal though. Good luck!

If it already has not been done yet, for peace of mind I would get the radiator replaced ASAP. Mine cost ~$350 at a local shop. A cheap price to save a $5k trans.

I just did the bypass so I'm not as concerned with the radiator because if it goes it will no longer cross contaminate the tranny fluid. I am getting the EVAP Valve replaced this week as well as the pre-cat...the dealership I bought the truck at is covering half the cost because of the one month warranty.

Other then the problems with the EVAP I have been really pleased with the Pathfinder...great power, smooth ride for the miles, and feels really solid...trust it for my wife and 6 month old daughter way more then the 06 Saturn Vue I had before that only had 45k on it.

I know that with this many miles on my Pathfinder it is a gamble but I hope that it is a gamble that pays off.
