1999 Pathfinder with dash issues

I have a 1999 Pathfinder. I was driving at 40 mph and all was fine. Suddenly the speedometer started to gradually drop to zero (This took about 90 seconds.) The tachometer and temperature gauge dropped over the same period of time. The odometer also went out. The gas gauge seemed to be OK but maybe it was just dropping slower. Since they all went out at once it seems a common problem to all. Question is what caused it and how to fix it. Any help would be much appreciated.
