When I try it, or any of the others, anywhere else on the dash or even the rearview mirrror, the magnetic qualities of the truck's metal and/or electronics cause the compass to go haywire.

Good after-market compass that won't break the bank?
As was standard, I believe, my 2006 S model did not come with a compass. I've tried several after-market compasses in my truck with very limited success. The only one I've been able to get to work so far is one of the cheap suction-cup mounted ones but even that one will only work if it is stuck on the center console just in front and to the side of the gear-shift. It works okay there but it never stays put and it's hard to see there...as well as requiring me to glance down further than I like.
