Cabin microfilter

For those that have changed out the in-cabin microfilter, does it look like the filter could be cleaned with alcohol, K&N air filter cleaning fluid, or some other fluid and then reused. Thanks.

From the PF service manual page MA-8, it asks to change the in-cabin microfilter every 15000 miles /24000kms /each year but I'd guess that depends on driving conditions, types of roads, amounts of wet highway road spray, etc.

Has anyone traced where the intake vent is for the cabin air. Thanks.

I dont think you could clean it with alcohol, or K&N cleaner. I have changed my in cabin filter a couple of times. It appears to be made of a pretty thin, paper type material. I dont think it would hold up well to chemical cleaning.

.... No .. you will want to replace it ... I suggest every 15K ... I did mine at 20K and it was NASTY !!! Remember with the windows up all the air inside the vehicle goes through the filter ..

Most of the people don't have the bolt that holds the cover on. It seems they were left out at the factory. Got to love that kind of quality check

Changing every 15 or 20k is about right. It all depends on the conditions you are living in, pollen, dust and that sort of stuff.

I had a few spare minutes so thought I'd check out the condition of the incabin microfilters. Pulled off the little door as shown in the above photo and no filters to be seen...guess mine must be on Ebay by now. I wonder if the dealership is going to believe the story and provide filters at their cost.

I don't think they came on the base model unless they were an option. That's probably why you don't have any Greybrick.

The service manager at the purchase dealership says that as far he knows the S model came with microfilters as well and has one with my name on it sitting at the parts counter for pickup.

I had to clean out the interior today and figured I may as well replace the cabin filters. I pulled mine out, only to find that they were installed at the factory upside down, which I don't think is an issue, but WTF is all the foam crap that came out with them??

Both of the filters had shredded foam covering the tops of them. Any ideas on where it came from?

NVSteve..If I were to make a guess,I would bet that you have some critters making a home in that duct system.It looks as though they're eating the bottom of you dash
