How will air bags affect Weight Dist Hitch?

Postby marc515 » Fri Feb 08, 2013 12:11 pm

We have a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder, and a 2010 Heartland MPG (similar to an Rpod). and am considering getting a pair of air bags for the rear springs to help reduce sag when towing.

The WDH helps with the sag somewhat, but from various posts I've seen, air bags are the best improvement for the $$.

However, I'm wondering how the air bags will affect the WHD overall? Since the vehicle will remain fairly level with the air bags, I will not have much tension on the E2 hitch spring bars to help control sway.

My main problem is my steep driveway. I would have to let the air out to bring the camper down to the street, un hook the camper, inflate the air bags, and then hook up the camper and WDH.

Can any of you guys provide some insight? Thank you.

The air bags (or air shocks, what I used on my old Chev trucks) will only help. There is a limit as t the amount of help you can get out of WDH. It would help if you posted what size WDH and trailer tongue weight you are connecting to the PF.
