Project Murder

Postby Ross Carlson » Sat Mar 02, 2013 2:49 pm

My 2008 LE is the 5th black car I've owned - and as I'm a big fan of darkening everything I can I decided a few weeks ago it was time to murder out my Pathfinder. So far I've done the following:

- Vinyl wrapped all fake woodgrain interior trim (god that stuff is awful)
- Vinyl wrapped the chrome on the doors
- Vinyl wrapped the chrome on the tailgate
- Plastidipped the front grill, front and rear badges
- Removed pinstripes (this took almost 90 minute per side)
- Debadged (this also took forever, that damn glue is so tough)
- Black bull bar added

Next up:
- Plastidip the wheels (as soon as we get a nice weekend)
- Plastidip running boards and roof rack (maybe, want to see with wheels first)
- Install 24" 1080p tailgating screen in ceiling
- Install trickle charger in engine bay for RV hookup
- Install supplemental audio system for tailgating

That and the headlights are already done - somewhat lightly. I don't want to affect light out put that much, just want to take a little edge off.

you can go full black on taillights and still have perfect light output.
i sprayed mine 4 coats of black lightspray and still clearly visible in day time.

our laws here require 30 meters viewing distance in day time, and mine passed the test easily.

even if you keep it as is, yours looks nice anyways 8)

here's mine before i sold it:

i'd totally do the wheels.

here's my write up: http://thenissanpath.com/viewtopic.php?t=7815

the biggest thing i can say is do ALOT (5+) of light coats. it will yield the best results. a couple heavy coats will not come out smooth. it will have little 'nubs' all over the place. also make sure and wait a good 5-10 min inbetween each coat.

here's one of my before and after:
