199.5 Pathfinder SE not starting

Postby justin.cuellar » Tue Apr 09, 2013 7:52 am

I have a 199.5 nissan pathfinder. A while back while on a trip the vehicle was running fine, when I got back in vehicle to leave all it would do is turn over. Towed vehicle home and replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel pump relay, basically everything that I thought might be wrong with it. I started the vehicle drove it around all day and after stopping at a store when I got back in it wouldn't start again. I can hear the fuel pump when the key is turned on, also opened valve on fuel rail and there seems to be a sufficient amount of fuel pressure. I did notice that there is a relay missing that is marked as ATP on the relay cover. Would this have anything to do with the vehicle not starting. Any advice would help, ready to get this thing out of my yard.

I'd say you need that relay. SMJ might know more.

As far as getting it started, you've verified only one item that is required to start, that being fuel.

Do you know if you are getting spark to the sparkplugs?

Haven't verified spark yet. Will try to do that this weekend. Having a hard time finding that relay online.

The ATP relay is not used on 2WD models. It is used in conjunction with the ATP warning light to let someone with a 4WD vehicle & auto trans know that the transfer case is in neutral when the AT shifter is in park position. If the transfer case is in the neutral position and the vehicle operator walks away from the vehicle with the trans shifter in park, the vehicle can still roll away.

Thankyou for the info on the ATP relay.Google had no idea. I had a friend hook a code reader up to the computer and he was coming up with a faulty knock sensor. Will this cause the engine to not get fire or disrupt fuel distribution?
