Odd vibration

Postby FLpathFinder » Wed May 08, 2013 8:07 am

I purchased a used 2010 pathfinder SE 4.0 4x2 with approximately 52k miles on it. The truck basically looks brand new. When I'm stopped at a red light, my car will vibrate pretty intensely for about a second, then go back to normal. I use regular fuel in it even though it says to use premium. Could this be a problem? When it happens, it seems the voltage gauge drops a little, I don't know if that helps. Any feed back would be appreciated!

many have complained that the engagement of the HVAC compressor causes a weird vibe at idle.

On my 05, it is not noticeable.

IIRC Nobody has ever had a major problem stemming from this.

You may want to do some driveway testing... see if you can reproduce the issue.

These trucks are known for bad belt tensioners. But I doubt its a major issue.

A number of members have posted about a "rough idle". This appears to be normal, for the R51. You can use the site search engine and see if this is similar to what you are experiencing.

I get the exact same thing on my '10 pathy se w/ 53,000m. i also have a hell of a vibration coming from the hvac fan. its fine on the lower speeds but it's crazy on the higher, vibrates the dash and steering wheel. anyone know if that can be fixed under warranty?

Strange. I have 0 vibration when moving, except the standard steering wheel shake at around 75mph. Only at idle, but this morning I noticed it without the AC on?

sorry, to be clear the hvac fan vibration happens when the 'fan' is running at high speed. it sounds like it's going to spin right out from under the dash...

can these become unbalanced? i'm not sure what else would cause this type of noise/vibration.

I'll put it in to the dealer soon and report back on the low idle engine vibration and the hvac fan as well.

Engine Vibration at Idle

Postby booradley » Fri Jul 05, 2013 11:03 am

I work for a Nissan Dealer and they service b y 2012 Silver, and the Service Manager tells me "that's the way those trucks idle". I tried additives and they have some effect, even with the A/C off you get that slight dip in the RPM's. You certainly can tell with the A/C cycles on and off. I gave him the suggestions on this site, idle adjust, etc and he of course told me there is no cure. It is simply annoying and the only issue I have. Fortunately I have a lease and if it goes south, its theirs in 24 months.

You can resolve this by getting a bully dog and bumping up your idle RPM manually. Shake will not be as noticeable.

you might need to get your tires rebalanced or have your alignment checked. i have no shake even at 90
