Help with 2011 Pathfinder P0101 Code

Hello Guys, I have an 2011 Pathfinder (VQ40De) with a persistent DTC P0101 code (MAF Sensor Code). As far I notice the Pathfinder have no drivability problems, however there is a Tech Bulletin (NTB12-051d) that recommend an ECM reprogramming for this situation with an Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning procedure, an Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning procedure and a Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning) procedure. I have find DIY tutorials to do those procedures manually for older Pathfinders and Titans but I am not sure if those apply to my model and year. I appreciated if anyone can let me know if there are DIY ECM re-set and learning procedures for my model and year. I new on the forum so, my apologies if this has been discussed and I missed the topic. Thanks in advance!

I found the ECM re-set and learning procedures for my model and year on the service manual. Thanks ! Anyway.

An ECM re-set is not the same as an ECM reprogram. A reprogram means they've updated the ECM software; you will need to go to a dealer to get that done. Good news is that ECMs are covered under the long-term emissions warranty, so you should be covered.

Yes smj999smj you're right. I went to the dealer today and they perform an ECM reprogram procedure following the NTB12-051d service bulletin. No check engine light on so far so will see how it goes from now on. It was covered from the warranty, WeeePeeeee!!!!. Thanks for your responce!

I have a 2011 as well, and it showed the same code... I took it to the dealer and they said there was no such thing as an ECM reprogram. They told me that the air intake box was not secure properly which is why the service light came on.... I am hoping it doesn't come back on.

If the dealer...and by "dealer" I'm assuming service writer...told you there is no such thing as an ECM reprogram, then he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. Then, again, remembering some of the idiot service writers and managers I worked with when I was with Nissan, that really doesn't surprise me!

200 miles later the service engine light is back on again... at the dealer right now and they are finally doing the reprogram for the ECM. They said its not covered but since I have a gold policy and been going to them, they will cover it. Crossing my fingers that this is the issue.

Well... some times dealers don't told us everything to avoid giving us free services. My pathfinder is working great after the ECM reprogramming and no check engine light on so far. And yes... there is a service bulletin about this (NTB12-051d March-11-2013) and is covered by the warranty as smj999smj told me. And the pathfinder is not the only one with that issue. Actually I has a copy but I am not sure if I can post it on the forum.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread....but I installed a new MAF sensor & did the ECM reprogram at my dealer ($94) and still have a persistent CEL w/ P0101 code.

Anybody else have this issue? 2012 Silver edition 4x4 w/ 102,000 miles.

My independent mechanic hasn't been able to locate the issue as of yet.

I just got this code last night. Erased the code and will see if it comes back soon. Then I'll check with the two Nissan dealers near me about the service bulletins on NTB12-051d March-11-2013 and see if it's under warranty work.

I have had about 6 months w/o seeing the check engine light on my dash.

The ECM reprogram did not fix my problem.

I had to have my AC compressor replaced in July by my independent mechanic. I guess he had to disassemble quite a bit of the grill/front end to get access? While doing that work, he ran across a ground connection that looked corroded, so he cleaned it.

I have not seen the CEL since.

I had the same problem with my 2011 about 3 years ago. I took it to the dealer and they performed an ECM reprogram. It turns out that it didn't help with my problem. About a year ago I took it back to the dealer, and it was actually a bad MAF. They put a new one on, and they replaced the throttle body cause it was taking the reprogram. Thankfully the repair was covered under the certified warranty. I got away with at least a $1,600 repair bill. I believe that if you do not change the MAF, you will eventually not be able to drive with out stalling out. I'm might be wrong, but someone on here will be able to correct that.

About 5 days and 200ish miles later, the CEL hasn't come back on. I wonder what triggered it.
