2014 Jeep Cherokee

Postby NVSteve » Fri Oct 04, 2013 9:27 am

While I am no fan of Jeep, I think they might have a winner on their hands. Yeah, the Jeep purists & Jeep community in general are all bitching about the redesigned crossover (welcome to the Nissan world). Having gone through all the features & a number of videos online, I think they did a great job, especially with their Trailhawk model. Certainly wipes Nissan's growing fleet of crossovers. What do you think?

Certainly better than the Liberty it replaces! I think they did a good job, but time will tell on the reliability of the Fiat engineering and mechanics.

Well, one way of looking at it is that the standard + additional options available for the Jeep surpass those of the Xterra by a huge margin. Even with the V6, mpg is improved over the X. But, is it worth the difference in price for all the extra goodies and better mpg?

I'm curious to see how well sales will do. I would imagine fantastic. I mean if the new *cough* "Pathfinder" can do so well, I don't think the Jeep will have any problem selling a ton of the Cherokees. We shall see.

Couple of other things to consider: Xterra is bigger, has a full-frame and this generation has been around since 2005, so pretty much has had all the initial "bugs" worked out of it. The Cherokee is smaller, unibody and a first year model, meaning we expect some "new model bugs," but we just don't know how many or how bad they'll be!

Good point. From what I've heard, they've already pushed the release date back a bit so they could fine-tune the transmission. It sounds like they are really working on getting a trouble-free car to market, but you are right about that first model year thing. I'd bet there will be a number of hiccups.

There are still rumors flying around concerning the Xterra. Still no definite word if it will be continued beyond 2014 or if they will do a major redesign.

there was a qoute from someone from nissan who said that now they can work on updating their lower volume vehicles, like the titan and xterra. id imagine a redesign is coming out soon cause there will be a new titan for 2015. so the frontier and xterra will end up having similar designs to that most likely.

The 2015 Frontier is going to look a lot like the new Pathfinder, which I imagine will go for the Xterra, as well. Take a look at the Frontier:
