U1000 Error Code

Postby oyarsa » Wed Jul 14, 2010 3:04 pm

So I was driving along the other day and I first noticed the VDC and Slip lights were on and then noticed the service engine light was on. Thanks to the help of one of you, I tried to get the diagnosis code from the dash, but was confused by the result so I decided to go ahead and take it to an Autozone. They scanned it and it came up with a U1000 error. Any idea what I should do? It is under warranty, but that includes a $50 deductible and cash is short for me right now. Is it safe to drive? Easy to fix?

It looks like it may be a hick-up in communication on the CAN bus. http://forums.nicoclub.com/ses-cel-code ... 26537.html has a list and list the CAN communication line for that code. Did autozone clear it out for you? I know Advance Auto Parts has the code readers on sale. They help when you need to get a code and clear it to see if it comes back. Especially out on the road. I keep a pocket one in the glove box.

Mine's done the same thing a couple times and usually takes a turn of off the ignition to reset....any thoughts on what could be causing it?

Check your battery terminals... mine did this a couple of months ago and a little research on this and the U1001 that my Path threw with it leads to the common thread around Nissan's being a bad or loose ground causing it.

In my case, my Ground terminal was heavily corroded which looks to have been the problem. I cleaned it up (and since then have replaced the battery) and I haven't seen it again.

Might not be it, but it's a thought.

Sorry to not respond to the replies till now. Things have been a bit crazy around here. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try and get back later...
