Sorry this is so long, lots of ideas/questions to run past you guys after reading alot on here...
Hi Everyone! I'm planning a 2 inch lift. I'll be driving on and off-road and occasionally towing heavy loads as well. Not going to be adding anything heavy like a bumper or anything, though I will be carrying some heavy gear inside pretty regularly.
I've read this whole thread as well as many others.
My goal is to lift my Pathy while preserving suspension travel, having good on and off-road driveability, and not running into any alignment issues. I'm not bothered by the rake, so I'm not necessarily looking to get rid of it.
Radflos, unfortunately, aren't in the budget, and I'm going to avoid OME because of cost for the springs and shocks/struts as a package and the difficulties with alignment some members seem to have had.
Currently, these are the options I'm considering:
Front: Either Bilstein 5100 or Rancho QuickLift/QuickLift Loaded
Rear:
Shocks: Either Bilstein 4600/HD or Rancho RS9000XL
Springs: Stock with Airlift 1000
Spacers: Rancho urethane or PRG machined aluminum
All ideas welcome!!!
Questions:
1. Bilstein - According to their catalog and a call to company HQ, they don't actually make a 5100 for the front or rear of the R51. Also, the 4600/HD isn't meant to be used with a lift. This doesn't seem to be a problem, though, as many on here are running this setup very successfully based on what I've read. The part number I've seen on the Bilstein 5100s being used on the front of R51s is 24-187053. Are there any others or would this be the best? How about the 4600/HD for the rear, is everyone running the 24-186919? Thoughts???
2. Rancho - It seems like the Rancho QuickLift/QuickLift Loaded is pretty well liked by those who have them on the front end, but any opinions either way are more than welcome. Some have had problems with durability of the RS9000XL, though, with them seeming to die quickly sometimes. Thoughts? Anyone here with a higher mileage RS9000XL install?
3. Stock Springs/Airlift - Alot of members running this, so it seems like a good setup, but all ideas welcome!
4. Spacers - I'd like to avoid squeaking/sagging over time if possible. I see alot of members are running the Rancho uethane spacer in the rear. Thoughts on this vs a metal spacer like the PRG?
Thanks!!!
