You may want to let him know you're racing next time. This isn't going to happen, period!

No doubt. Testing I've seen puts the G37 at 5.4 seconds to 60 and the V8 Pathfinder at 7. One is pretty quick, the other is average. You'd need a supercharger on the Pathfinder to bridge that gap and far more to "whoop" it.

Do you by chance have a link to that comparison?

V6 is more than enough for the pathfinder, but i would love to see a half mile drag with a V6 and a V8 side by side

Got rid of an 03 Navigator with a 5.4 V8. Wanted something smaller, more efficient, and easier to park so I went with the V6 Pathy. This will haul my 18' boat with the wife and kids just fine. Plenty happy with 266 HP in a family SUV. I have two muscle cars with a combined 900 HP stock if I need to get somewhere in a hurry.

sad to say, but an Xterra with the same 6cyl walks all over any pathfinder v6. almost keeps up with the v8 LE's. The power to weight is undeniable. The xterra with a v6 is as much faster as a v8 pathfinder to a v8 armada. I find the 2005/06 make the best power/acceleration. 2008's seem to be the lamest.

I dont know about walking all over it... Everything I have read puts the Xterra 6cyl 0-60 at 7.3 sec, pathty 6cyl at 7.3 sec and pathy 8cyl at 6.4 sec. Curb Weight of the X is 4,224 pds compared to the pathy's 4,427 in s trim. I Dont think 200 pounds is gonna make much of a difference.

i drive both of those models all the time, doing drivability studies and stuff. If you ever get a chance to drive one, give it a go. Different gear ratios, wheel size etc (on different trim levels, off-road pkg etc), might be a factor. Try to run one down next stop light, i'd be willing to bet xterra wins. Plus media releases are notorious for making claims and extrapalating #'s from "collected data"

Car and Driver is usually an accurate gauge. They list road-tests of:

2005 Pathfinder: 0-60 7.5 seconds

2006 Xterra 6-speed manual: 0-60 7.0 seconds

I would bet the automatics are a lot closer in real world as C&D tends to torch them.

hard to say....there are at least 2 diff's "M" and "C" as well as all the different trim levels and wheel sizes. I'm sure an LE with leather and DVD has a couple hundred pound more wiring and electronics etc than say an "S" model. Auto and manual also makes a difference, as well as the 2005/06 to 2008/09 acceleration difference. The press release vehicles also make the rounds all over the country and usually get beat pretty hard. To make press time, they sometimes also get pre-production mdoels with no vin, and unfinished interiors (no textures). They'd really have to compare apples to apples to be accurate. If anyone has a chance, drive one and see...imo, xterras are faster, but i stil like my 51 better.

Either way, we're still just comparing vehicles with average acceleration IMHO so no need to dig too far into details. If we're trimming .5 seconds off a 5 second car...that's another story.

What's the difference performance wise on '08+ models? I've not found any published performance on '08+ but spec wise they appear to be the same.

i haven't found any published differences in the 08's and 09's, but i've found the initial acceleration and trans shift sched differ from the older ones. It's one of the things i'm currently studying. Guys may also find that after about 35k miles, the things revs more freely...

I'm at about 18k miles on my '08 and the shifts are very soft between 1-2 and 2-3. So maybe they've reprogrammed to take some of the abuse off the tranny? I've not driven a pre-'08 so I can't comment but it almost feels like a manual tranny shifting (VW's DSG for example) on the lower gears. I've not timed mine but I would say 7.5 to 60 feels about right.
