Vehicle Speed Sensor Location

Postby 95Pathy » Wed Sep 09, 2009 5:09 am

Hi all I'm new here and I hope I'm not beating a dead subject here. I did a search and didn't find anything.
My speedo has bit the dust and I got the check engine light so from what I can find I need to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor and I know it is supposed to be somewhere on the trans. can someone give a location? I.E. top, bottom, left side right side etc.
Thanks for any help
Duke
Sorry I forgot it's a 95 auto trans. 4 WD

On mine I'm pretty sure its on top. You can see the wire going to it if you remove the 4wd shifter boot.

Same issue, found the problem

On these older pathy's like my 89, the speedometer is dead, but the reason in my case, and many ive seen at scarpyards, is because where the speed cable connects to the gauge goes bad. Take your dash off and you will usually find a crack where the cable and guage meet. Only solution ive found was to hunt for a good guage, ive yet to find one :P, there are some online i think
