Newb looking to buy R51

Hi all,
I've been on the hunt for a R51 Pathy. My budget is 6-7.5k (not looking to do a loan). There is not much around me so the nearest paths are about 3 hours away. However, the radiator/transmission problem puts me off. The way I see it, if I find a vehicle with the stock radiator and no bypass that has no problems, should I - A) Buy it and drive it 3 hours and do the bypass soon after. B) Buy it and do the bypass before the 3 hour drive. C) Don't buy it. I would hate to have this problem happen right after buying it because if its from a private seller or corner lot stealership I'll be SOL. The Bypass could be done in a parking lot in 30m. What would you guys do? Also, is there anything else that I missed besides the Cat Converter and brakes?
