Did 04 (r50s) have issue with Trans?

I recently purchased a used 04 r50 Pathfinder. It seems fine during the test drive, but now about a month in i'm getting the abrupt bump or hard shift at lower speeds/rpms. This issue is intermittent and it's not all the time.
I thought I read the trans on these were pretty solid. I'm coming from a newer car to an older car and I'm wondering if it's me having to get used to how an older car drives.
I wanted something cheap and that didn't require big ticket repairs :-/
