Hey Nissan Pathfinder owners, my wife and I are looking at upsizing from our 2002 Honda CR-V to something with a third row of seating and are considering the pathfinder. Budget allows up to a 2013-2014, or we are considering the third gen, no currency converter older than 2010. Just wondering if you have any comments on reliability, overall ride, fuel consumption, and cargo space. We drive mostly on paved roads and well maintained logging roads and do venture into tougher terrain from time to time. We also drive in snow and on steep roads during the winter.

The 2013/2014 are nice and modern vehicles with good milage for the size and a nice interior.

But it sounds from your use (offroad)you might prefer a R51 (previous gen) more.

They are traditional body-on-frame and are well liked by many.
Think of a 4Runner competitor at a much lesser price.

I would recommend a 2011 or 2012 Pathfinder. They were made at the end of a 7-year production run, so all of the bugs were worked out. It also has a very reliable, 5-speed automatic transmission, and not the historically trouble-prone CVT transmissions that Nissan uses in many of their current vehicles, including the current generation of Pathfinder. The 2013-2014 R52 Pathfinders and later years are consistently rated near the bottom of their category by Consumer Reports in regards to reliability and customer satisfaction.
