horn not working - any ideas?

My horn doesn't work. The fuse is good, so maybe it's the horn wiring assembly? How can I tell for sure? Can I fix this myself or does it have to be done by a mechanic?
go to part store to buy $2.99 test lite. open hood. disconnect horn wiring connection. connect alligator clip from test lite to negative battery post or unpainted metal surface on vehicle. touch pointed portion on metal connector that was disconnected and get assistant to push on horn/steering wheel. if the test lite lites up, then the horn assy. is toast.
u can buy a factory one or one of those aftermarket kits that may need a little wiring installation for much cheaper.
