Dealer told me he has an 2006 pathfinder and uses regular 87 gas and normal oil changes. Probably b.s. maybe.

1) What do you guys recommend on octane or use? Should I go synthetic? Did Nissan even put synthetic to begin with at production?

2) Also, all Nissan is looking for a new manufacturer for there all weather mats. Anyone know anything about that. My dealer (Northshore Nissan, IL) said they were out and non available until they resolve issue.

Thanks.

my 06 recommends 87 octane or better and regular oil. for the 2010 it recommends using 91 octane and regular oil.

I use 89 octane on my 08 and Mobil 1 synthetic oil (newer vehicle).

89 is more then enough as its right in the middle and te cost for gas isnt what it used to be :( Also it will always benifit to go synthetic!

I'm pretty sure my '07 "requires" 91/premium per the manual & stickers. But, since I'm a bit over sea level, 87 has been working fine. If I lived at no elevation, I'd probably use 89 or 91. The CPU will adjust the timing so that the engine doesn't knock, and I doubt one would notice a difference running 87 vs 91 at sea level. At least I haven't when I've been that low.

09 recommends premium fuel but runs great on 87 and mpg seems same as with premium. Oil is 5W-30 standard but using synthetic certainly wouldn't hurt anything. Planning to switch oil to full synthetic after warranty expires but its going to the dealer every other change till then so synthetic isn't very cost effective.

Not sure why you would pay extra for factory floormats. I've heard the Weathertech and Husky brand mats are both nice. We have a Husky cargo liner and it's great.

Thanks for the feedback all.

Maybe I will stick with 89 oct to be in the middle and possibly synthetic oil.
In re All weather mats, I was promised them free as an extra incentive on top of other little things I had them give.

It's true about the all weather mats... I had the same problem at the dealership in Peoria. Sux that you were promised them free... otherwise I'd just tell ya to Ebay them... I picked up a set for about 60 bucks. As for a new manufacturer, the dealership said that they have not been given any timeline yet...
