Brake lights on permently...

Evening,

I run an '05 SVE dCi with a lighting problem. Whenever I have the sidelights or headlights on - manually or on auto - my brake lights are on too...

Changed both tail light bulbs, thinking that maybe the filament on one bulb was touching, therefore creating a circuit... but no. It’s still doing it.

So next I checked the brake pedal switch, but this seems ok.

So... can anybody throw any other ideas my way please?!

Thanks in advance...
Adam

Is there a 'stop lamp switch' on our vehicles??

Had to adjust a buddies Ford recently, same issue, have someone stand behind yer truck, and LIFT yer brake pedal up,, does it stop? If yes, adjust (if possible)

Hey, and thanks for your reply.

Yeah I've checked the foot brake switch and that appears to be behaving itself. I've checked the bulbs, too, but that's a dead end too.

I'm wondering whether the brakes are sticking on as they're squealing like a cheap hooker, but then again that wouldn't necessarily have a direct connection to the lights being on the whole time.

Also, after a period of time driving, the traction control and ESP lights illuminate on the dash.

I've no idea what the hell's going on...

Hey,

All fixed now... turns out it was the towing electrics playing up. I've had them disconnected and I'll rectify it later.

Thanks...
