The Nissan Path

I found some instructions to remove the door panel on the 2005-2007 Frontier and it appears to be the same as the Pathfinder. It says to use a plastic trim tool to create a small gap on the rear part of the arm rest (with the small cup on it) and then simply lift up from both ends and it should come off. The problem is that I am lifting close to as hard as I can and all that happens is the front part of the armrest comes up to expose those white plastic tabs but neither the front end nor the inside part of the armrest (against the rest of the door panel) moves at all. I'm not a weak guy and I'm worried that something is going to break instead of the armrest coming off.

Any tips?
