Can you buy a 4g phone without the 4g service? Just wondering. I wouldn't want to buy a phone and have to buy 4g service, when there are hardly any 4g signal spots. It also seems like every phone is 4g, so I'm just checking In case I decide to go and buy one.

yes, i had a jail broken iphone 4 when T-mobile only had 3g and didn't carry iphone. Only for a short time was it on 3g because they updated to "4g" and now they have LTE.

Well, my Sprint Samsung Epic S1 has 4G capabilities, however the option for 4G has to be turned on. Anyway, for what it's worth... It's actually a good phone overall. Yet the 4G service Sprint sold me on has NEVER been used. EVER.

Had this phone 2.5 years too.
