West Texas Dove Hunt

Opening day dove hunting in West Texas was the first time I really got to put my 08 Pathfinder to the test, since installing the lift kit, airbags and tires. I was very pleased with how the suspension preformed.

The trip consisted of a 7 hour road trip, and 2 days of off-road trails from mild to quit rough. In the field it was typically loaded with 3 passengers and a few hundred pounds of gear. On many of the trails, I was the only SUV or street vehicle and had no problem keeping up with the Polaris Rangers and the like. I even managed to get the wheels off the ground a few times (unplanned). The Pathy’s performance got a lot of complements and in many ways was much better than the Rangers & Jeep that accompanied me on the run. While they were eating dust and enduring the heat, we were happy with our AC, Stereo… and doors.

Here are a few images of with and without the Pathfinder. The full gallery is at: http://www.geneinman.com/dove-2013

As for the hunt.. well it was a bit slow. But the trip was great, except for the hours of cleaning to get rid of the fine red dust... it was everywhere!

Was great time, but the mesquite trees played hell on my paint. Hundreds of fine scratches in the clear-coat.. Took me 6 hours to buff them out. :(

Nice pictures!

The advantage of buying a "broken in" used Pathfinder: I don't care about bush pin-striping, nor does it get washed very often (unless it rains, lol). I do take the truck several hours off the beaten path, so I make sure the mechanicals get lots of attention ...the paint not so much.
