So today I went in for an alignment at firestone. The guy told me that they where able to align the tires on the rear perfect but there was an issue with the front wheels. He told me that they where not able to adjust the tires anymore and it would need a caster/camber kit installed so they could adjust the tires right and then do the alignment. He quoted me $350, parts where $198.94 and labor was $90.00 and taxes so on. does this sound right? Please help thank you.

The labor sounds okay but the parts are way out of line. You can get a caster/camber kit for around $30/side.

Yea that's what iwas thinking. And what about the camber on the pthfinder is that usually normal to happen.

If he called Nissan he might be correct. We get our bolts through the parts house (specialty products alignment kits)

The camber/caster is locked in the front due to bolts with over-sized washers. The easiest way to adjust those is to replace the bolts with eccentric kits that allow the bolt to move in/out.

I had to buy a set for my truck, but ironically when I put larger tires on the numbers got better and I only had to install one side.

Camber can fall out of spec for any of a number of reasons, from simply hitting a large bump or pothole in the road to coil spring sag to changing wheels and/or suspension components.

Well I think I might install the camber/caster kit. Because when I drive if i put the steering wheel straight it veers to the right very quickly. I need to put the steering wheel crooket in order to drive straight. What do you guys think?

If you have the ability, throw the kits in yourself and save yourself some money, then take it to have it aligned. You can order kits from Rockauto.com. They have Moog kits for $20.

Ok guys so here is an update. So before I installed the camber kit myself. I went to a different firestone to get an alignment done since I have the lifetime alignment package. So I went and explained my situation and they did an alignment and got my truck aligned like it supposed to be. So the other fire stone tried to rip me off by $350 dollars. Good thing I went for a second look and dodge a bullet. Thanks everybody for your responses.

You can report them to Firestone, but even better, your local Better Business Bureau.
