Hey guys –

Anyone have a spring compressor they recommend for the Pathfinder springs? I can't find one with clamps that fit between the coils (they're pretty tight).

I use the basic one from the autopart store but i usually take it apart first. It makes it easier to undo the big bolt till its a 2 piece then build it when its inside the spring.

Are we talking about the front springs or the rear springs?

Sorry, forgot to mention it's the front springs with the strut.

I'm thinking about buying a hydraulic strut floor compressor from Amazon for $130. Cheaper than the hour of labor my local garage wants to compress it.

Hi I agree with Thupertrooper. I tried several spring compressors and ended up using the rental units from the auto parts store. The stock spring coils on my 2008 V8 were very tight. Very little room to fit the compressor hooks in. I tried the compressor from HF but it did not fit between my coils. I had to disassemble the rental unit to get the hooks to fit inside the coils as well. Once in and assembled it worked fine. If you search for OEMTOOLS 25550 on Amazon you will see the kind of compressor I used. The one I rented was not that brand but it looked just like it. Good luck.

$64 for a spring compressor is not bad at all! That said, if you have an auto parts store with a tool loaner program, it might be worth checking out first. I know the Autozone and Advance Auto Parts in my area have them. As good as $64 is, free is even better if they have something that'll work for you!
