smoothing out the ride???

We recently purchased a Pathfinder SE 4x2 to use as our primary vehicle when taking road trips. I realize it doesn't ride as "smooth" as a much larger suv might which is fine with me. Some of my passengers (the wife) said that they feel like they are bounced around more in the middle seat but not as much when sitting up front. Is there any thing suspension wise that I can change to give it a more "forgiving" or "smooth" ride? I assume that due to width and wheel base it's probably not going to be as plush as maybe a Chevy Tahoe. Any info is appreciated. Thanks....just trying to keep the Mrs. happy.

By simply relpacing the rear shocks it made a huge difference for me.

what kind of shocks did you get to smooth the ride out?

I've been looking into this also. I think I'm going to get a set a two way adjustable shocks. So I can adjust the bound and re-bound. Then i can get it just the way I'd like for whatever i'm dong(cruising,off-road, towing).

I still haven't done anything. I know a guy who works for Nissan, he drove it and said it just felt very firm and tight. He also thought it'd be a waste of money replacing the factory shocks. He said everything felt normal to him and that was just the result of a shorter wheel base suv.

I have replaced my shocks with Bilstiens in the rear and it did make a huge difference. I still feel it's too bouncy so, either a new spring or the air lift is next.

when i changed out my rear shocks (well, and springs) with bilstein hd's, it made a huge difference to me. but then again the rear shocks that came off could be compressed by hand which means i basically had no rear shocks :)

Go with a monotube design, such as Bilstein HD, Monroe Reflex or KYB Gas-adjust. If you're still not happy, Airlift 1000's are the way to go!
