Just the Facts:

WASHINGTON — Nissan is recalling 2,417 2012 Nissan Frontiers, Pathfinders and Xterras because front wheel hubs may break, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The affected vehicles are two-wheel-drive models.

"These vehicles may have been equipped with front wheel hubs that may not meet the design hardness specifications," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. "A wheel hub that was manufactured below hardness specification may wear prematurely and eventually crack. If the vehicle is driven in this condition, the wheel hub may break, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash."

The affected vehicles were built at Nissan's Smyrna, Tennessee plant from June 19, 2012 through July 12, 2012.

Nissan said no complaints, injuries or accidents have been reported as a result of the recall.

No other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles are affected because they are not equipped with the part.

Nissan dealers will replace the front wheel hub assemblies. The recall is expected to begin on October 8. Owners can contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

That is my understanding of it. but you may want to call NNA with your VIN after the recall start just to be certain.
