Exhaust System Setup advice

Hey everyone, looking for some help figuring out what type of exhaust I'm going to put on my 05 V6

I love mtbpath's setup (http://www.thenissanpath.com/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0) with the Y removed and the MagnaFlow... 2.25 dual in/2.5 out

Another option I came across and was considering are the Cherry Bomb Extremes: Extreme-7481 with Dual - Dual 2.5" or the Extreme-7425 with 2.5 in/dual 2.25 out.
I've heard the Extremes have a nice sound to them

im kinda of mixed on the cherry bombs. because of their size they either sound great or like complete crap. the exhaust kinda needs to be tuned for a good sound with them.plus im not sure about drone

I went with a setup like that one. The magnaflow 12580. Eliminates the Y pipe and sounds great.

Do you hear some "drone" sound in the cabin while driving or not so much?

I ended up doing this, and I get a good amount of drone but I don't mind it that much. Passengers in the back say it's worse, I would know though

im getting mine redone due to getting long tubes put on. the shop is trying to figure out a way to make it sound deeper again.

it isn't what I consider drone. at startup, it's barely noticeable. perhaps a little louder and deeper. upon acceleration it really wakes up. at 2200-3000 rpms, it sounds amazing. and at highway cruising speeds, it quiets back down a little bit. I think it sounds great. I've been in ricey cars before that had drone, and this doesn't sound like that at all. I've also built a few cars (a 240sx, a maxima and an infiniti g35) and never ran in to any issues with exhaust drone.

Interesting.

My Maxima had horrid drone until I added a huge resonator on it. You ever been on maxima.org?

what maxima did you have? what kind of exhaust setup?

I had an '02 SE. with the 6spd manual. I believe I just had a megan racing out of the box catback system on it and in injen CAI. nothing crazy. I thought it sounded great and never thought of it as sounding like it was droninig. then again, I used to tear ass around in that thing so I probably spent very little time at an rpm that would drone

03, Cattman 3", and Cattman headers, with 3" test pipe.

Ended up going with a 6" x 30" resonator. The original design for the larger than original unit was a 6" X 18", but I tried it and it still wasn't enough. So I had him make me the 6X30.

And we all know the original was a measly 4" (even worse when considering the exhaust tubing itself is 3") x18".

Here's the 18, vs the 30".

Below are the original Cattman design, next to stock.

I need to see if I have any pics of the max or the 240. I wasn't really in to taking pics back then and I didn't have a camera for a while. And that was before cell phones had decent cameras too.

The pipes look good. I've found that drone is a funny thing. Some cars just vibrate differently than others, and some people can have the same car with the same setup and one drones and the other doesn't. Strange stuff

any suggestions about how to deepen the tone of the exhaust system. I was thinking either bullet mufflers or resonators

I would imagine that either would help. getting a great deep tone out of a v6 motor is tough though. I like the way some of the setups I've heard sound, including mine, but there's no mistaking it for a big v8

I'd defiantly agree. Mine is certainly a good amount deeper and louder though

the problem i have is my exhaust setup is now long tube headers->y pipe with no cats->biggest muffler magnaflow makes ->then small muffler to replace factory rear resonator.

I think i will add high flow cats onto the y pipe cause i can hear the exhaust pulses in the header, checked for leaks with a smoke test. I will probably go down to a smaller magnaflow muffler then after the y pipe and see how it sounds.
