My 08 with 124750 kms on it seemed to have slipped while driving on the highway today. i pulled over and shut the truck off and it has been driving fine ever since.
i have the warranty until 130kms. So I'm just wondering how i can check for contamination. My coolant reserve is low, but there is no milkshake in my rad.
My trans fluid looks normal on the dipstick, smells like rubber but not burnt.

What are the signs and symptoms of a failing transmission/rad
?

Agreed, take it to the dealer to check for coolant in the transmission. They can tell right away. Word is, if your transmission is failing due to cross contamination, it's a quick process. Slipping, shuttering, mis-shifting, etc.

On the other hand, if your transmission is failing because of age or bad luck, the process tends to be rather slow. Flaring, clunking, rough shifts, gear hunting, slipping and then... well, eventual death. I had a Jetta that took 6 months to go from "occasional flaring in the morning" to "no go no mo'."

Making automatic transmissions is not yet something man has conquered.
