Is my trans going? have a bit of studdering

So about 40mph it seems my 2007 v6 pathfinder starts studdering. I push the overdrive button and it goes away.
Last night my trans seemed like it was slipping about .5 of a mile from my house. Babied it home and checked the fluid.. nothing funny about it.

Drove it today and no problems at all.

I bought the suv about 5-6,000 miles ago. It had the radiator broken but there was no water in the tranny.
My dad owns a auto repair shop and the customer wanted to get rid of the suv instead of flushing the cooling system and transmission and see if there was a problem.

I have had 0 problems with transmission until last night

We flushed it at the shop and there was no water in the transmisson.

you mention "mixing"
was there, at some time, any coolant contamination in the transmission fluid?

From what we drained out of it.. maybe just maybe... 1oz.
The SUV sat for about 3 weeks before we drained it.

OK then, there was coolant in the trans fluid, correct?

There was a very very very small amount of non tranny fluid build up at the bottom of the case after 3 weeks of sitting

OK, then.......
once the fluid contamination happens, the trans will probably fail at some time
sounds like yours may be there
the moisture from the coolant will cause corrosion of the internal transmission components and premature wear
fresh fluid will not repair the damage already done

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but did you ever figure out what was causing this? I have the same issue, however I'm quite positive that it's not contamination because I have bypassed the internal rad cooler. Mine "slips" when trying to shift from 4th to 5th. Sounds and feels almost like it downshifts to third before going into 5th. Very weird, however no issues at all when I turn OD (5th lockout) off.
