Do you have a code reader? Need the code(s) it's throwing.

THat's the problem when you don't get a check engine light checked out when it happens; if another code should trigger, you won't know because the light is already on for the previous problem. I agree in that you should start by getting the trouble codes checked, but I would get all of the codes checked, as an OBD II code reader will only read engine management codes, but will not read other codes, like ABS, which would be what you would need for the VDC/SLIP code, or BCM codes, which would help identify a potential security system concern. One would need a scantool to access those codes.

Have you tried using a different key? Maybe the security transponder in the key is messed up.

If the key is the issue, the security light will stay "on" steady when you turn the key to "on," and not turn off after a couple of seconds.

A nissan mechanic checked it out and said it was the spark plugs. We'll see what happens today and i'll post a reply.

had the same problem with both of my R51s (especially the negative cable clamp)
as the batteries age (about 3 years, both), the same symptoms can show up
sometimes a problem turns out to be the most basic of things

I forgot to mention that i cant perform nissan on board diagnosis (the one that you do with the gas pedal) and my ses light flashes 5 times after turning the key to on position.
