The Nissan Path

Not really sure where to post this. I recently bought a 2005 SE. I've done some repairs to it already. I noticed a hissing noise from under the hood and narrowed it down to a vacuum hose connected to a nipple on what looks like a black "donut" on top of the passenger side valve cover. Long story short, I disconnected it from the donut nipple and the hose just came out. The problem is: Where does the other end connect to? I tried to post a pic of it, but I can't figure that out on here.

Here's a link to a pic of the hose.

The only thing I know of on the passenger side valve cover that has a "donut" would be the PCV valve and the grommet. Hose doesn't look like the one on the part diagram, but diagrams can sometimes be inaccurate (see below). If it is the PCV, the hose would connect to the intake plenum.

Thanks for the response, smj. Ok, took a picture of the top part that the hose fits into. Still can't figure out where the other end connects(it's really hard to see in there)

it connects to a nipple on the very back of the passenger side valve cover (facing the firewall)

Awesome. I need to replace that valve cover gasket anyway, so I'll be able to see that when I pull the valve cover. Thanks.

are you driving it with that hose disconnected?

Not driving it yet. Bought it knowing it needed repairs, still waiting for the title so I can register it. Bought it for my wife to get her out of 01 corolla clunker.

Thanks for the help guys. New to working on Pathfinders. I've been driving an 04 Xterra for about 5 years and have been amazed at the relative ease of working on it. Is there any common problems that I should be aware of on the Pathfinder? You've all been most helpful and most appreciated.

you probably know about the "by-pass" by now?
also, are you aware that our forum has an "on-board" service manual?

I read about it. I'll be doing that in the near future. As far as the service manual, is it the same as the factory released one? If so, I've been having trouble finding where certain things are in it. I've looked for the Haynes manual, but there doesn't seem to be one for the 2005-2012 model. Weird.

what are you having trouble finding?

I think it's more just ignorance of what things are called on my part. If I knew the proper names, I could probably find them.

I checked the cabin filters. There were none! Thanks for cluing me in on the fact that they exist.
