Performance Boost?

Any quick or relatively simple ways to boost HP/performance?

I have a 2011 with the 4.0L V6

Not really. Some say a CAI helps, I have a Superchips tuner that improves performance marginally.

Out of curiosity, how much did your superchip set you back by the time you were done and how much of a boost did you see?

there are a few cheap mods that will drastically improve the way this vehicle drives.

1-XTP intake manifold spacer

2-getting rid of the dreaded y-pipe and replacing it with a 2-1 muffler.

3-a true CAI

4-bullydog or superchips

From your sig it looks like you have done #1, #2, and a DIY version of #3? Have you dyno'd or just judging from feel?

I have not dyno'd and never really plan to. the 33" tires eat up some of the gains anyway.

the intake/exhaust combo is basically a given. get more cold air in and let more exhaust out and you have a more efficient and powerful motor. this is true for any vehicle.

the intake manifold spacer definitely passes the butt dyno. immediate and seriously noticeable difference from the before and after. taken directly from the IMS website " Peak gains of 8hp @ 5600rpm, Torque of 23ft/lbs. @ 4400rpm, Considerable gains in the midrange, HP from 3600-4800 is 23hp increase, Torque 3600-4400 is 33-23ft/lbs. increase over previous run." Gray (the owner of the company) explains how it works in the "about" section on his website. http://extremetruckperformance.com/?page_id=2

a manifold spacer isn't some gimmicky thing that he came up with. it's something that has been done for years in cars and trucks.

Yeah, I read through the info on the spacer and decided it was a good mod for the money. I haven't done any of the others you listed so that's why I was asking. Trying to decide if they are worth it.

The air box mod is simple assuming this is the one you did. (http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-p ... x-mod.html) As with most things, there is some debate as to it's merits.

The exhaust is going to cost a few hundred I'm guessing so that one I was more curious about regarding any before and after results you might have.

Getting a new CAI and a free flowing exhaust is an easy way but not really cheap.

i dyno'd after bully dog and going from ~29in tires to ~33in tires (more rotational weight to have to sling around)

i had a really crappy (3rd) pull (started at ~3200rpm, redline at 6k), but still managed 276hp and 297tq to the wheels. considering the v8 is rated 310/388, i'd say that's not -too- bad of a drivetrain/tire-weight loss...

oh, and so yeah i'd say the cheapest/quickest/easiest thing to do is a tuner. i only have experience with bullydog, but i love it. i got mine off craigslist for $250 iirc.

a tuner is a -must- if you go with 'large' tires, as the performance hit i took was very noticeable when going to the 33's.

doctah when did you trade in your pathy? did you get any extra in trade for your mods? do you like your infinity? are you going to mod that?

I am also looking at some upgrades, because I 'only' have the V6. Wondering if it is even worth it...
