I know this sounds strange but I had to change the turbo on my pathfinder. now when I am towing the pathfinder is dead as anything below about 1900rpm then it spools up and is normal. I am thinking I need a tweek on the vnt stop screw. Can anyone confirm with a 2.5 dci engine at what rev range does your pathfinder boost from.
I had a feeling my old turbo boosted at a lot lower rpm.

Does no one drive an oil burner?

Unfortunately not... I wish!

No Diesel pathys in North America.

Well, I do have one :)

First, how do you know turbo is dead? Might be boost control actuator. Also might be some tube broken, or intercooler clogged. Also air intake valve, or MAF sensor, or...many other things.

I'd inspect turbo before making any final decision.
It's some dismantling, but not too much to get to charge-side of turbo. Remove air intake hose from air filter, remove upper coolant hose from engine to radiator, put aside some small vacuum hoses...and you got to boost side of turbo.
Remove 2 screws holding turbo air exhale pipe and you will see compressor wheel with blades.

See if there's no engine oil on the blades, that they can spin freely and nothing is bent. If there's no extensive axial play, your turbo might still be OK.

Well when there is about 6mm play in shaft on the turbo, it is shot. Can you please tell me where your turbo boosts from under load eg pulling a trailer

Hey, sorry for taking so long to answer. I had some other stuff on plate.

Honestly, I cannot determine exact point when turbo engages, but it seems at quite low RPM, definitely below 1700. And as I have it tuned, it boosts up to 1,4 bars (20 psi).

Here are measurements (without HHO generator):

Thanks labsy, with your mods that sounds about right so maybe on standard the turbo is kicking in at correct revs, maybe I am just expecting too much, your wagon must be an animal with all that torque
