Weird slip/ jerk freeway speeds.. please read!!

Ok guys, this is the second time this has happened. I live in MN, Ive put it in 4WD twice, the first time at freeway speeds every 3 or 4 minutes at 55+ I would feel a slip, feels like its coming from the back, almost like hitting a icy patch and then feels like it catches traction.. (3 weeks ago) now tonight driving home from work we have some snow, Im only in 2wd and I got that slip/jerk feeling a few times only at HWY speeds, never got a VDC light, No idiot lights on.. any suggestions or ideas what the heck is going on?
