Rear differential years?

My 2005's rear differential is all busted up. I see a couple online at a local salvage yard. Just wanted to know if I should look for one from a different model year.
I also plan to pull the cover of the replacement one. Is there anything I should be looking for are replace while I'm in there?

Either way you will have to pull the pan on both to check the gearing to make sure they are the same.
There are several years that will fit just the gearing is what should be different.
You can even go with an Armada rear end if its the same gearing.

Should be a number stamped on the Ring gear.

But remember, if you have 4WD, if you change the rear gearing you'll also have to replace the front, as well.

No plan to change the gearing. But it doesn't look to be a problem. 4WD is one ratio the 2WD is another. Now that might change by year or country.

Have any more info on the Armada rear end? Everything the same? Is it a better option or just another optionn?

It’s a better option, (beefier everything, housing etc, 9.05” ring gear, bigger than the previous generation Titan) and also the same gear ratio (3.36). The V8 pathfinder only comes in 2.94, so the Armada/QX56 are the only options if yours is 3.36 in front too. All you need to do is change/swap your ABS sensors from your current unit to the new unit. They had 3.54 R230’s overseas, but there was a carrier break from 3.36 to 3.54, but you won’t have to worry about that if you’re a US R51.

I assume it's from a V6.
