My starter fuse keeps blowing but pathfinder isn't giving codes that somethings wrong. Now it won't start. Not even turn over. Soon as the fuse is replaced, it starts but the fuse blows again. My wife noticed before this occurred, she would press the accelerator, the vehicle would hesitate to go. The guy that is helping us said that it did the same thing to him. What could be going on? I don't want to go to a dealer because I'll be looking at a huge bill. Has anyone else heard of this? Please help!!!

You need to check your starter wiring, and make sure all connections are tight.

Are your battery terminals loose? They tend to stretch over time, and may require replacement.

The throttle issue is related, the drive by wire system gets confused when power us intermittent.

Also check the ground strap.

..........I second these recommendations.
Also, what year is the truck?
How old is the battery?
Have you charged and load tested the battery?
Tried an alternate battery?

Hey guys, the year is a 2007 and the battery is only a few months old as I had to replace the original. I checked the battery posts and made sure everything was tight. I'm just lost as to what could be going on. The hesitation when pressing the accelerator is what confuses me.

well, you could go further into diagnosis, but...........
a new battery can be defective, or get weak due to another problem - load test the battery
the battery cable negative clamp on R51s are a common problem because though the pinch nut is tight, the clamp may still be loose - be sure it's not loose (pivoting) on the battery post
have you checked your starter wiring, and the connection of the battery (-) cable at the opposite end from the battery end?
as disallow mentioned above, the throttle issue may be related to the non-starting problem
most R51 starting problems are related to these recommendations

Thanks guys but how could I check this throttle issue? We were getting 14VDC on the battery without the terminals on it. Could that cause the hesitation when the gas pedal is pressed? By the way, this just started happening. Never had any previous issues whatsoever. Thanks for all the replies guys!

14VDC static is a bit high
is it starting up again?
without it running I don't know that there's a way to diagnose the throttle
why was the last battery replaced?

The battery was replaced because it kept killing on us and I got it to Oreilly's and they said that the alternator was good but that the battery needed to be changed. And no it will not start unless we change out the starter fuse. But then the fuse will blow again

My wife thinks she put some bad gas in it because this all started after she went put gas at a gas station that we normally don't put gas at. Before that, vehicle ran awesome!

then you may have 2 different problems at the same time
bad gas won't cause the fuse to blow, but may be causing the throttle response issue
on the other hand, the right kind of electrical problem could conceivably cause both the starter fuse blowing AND the throttle response problem
what other circuits share the starter fuse (fuel pump maybe)?
how long before the fuse blows after starting the engine?
after replacing the fuse, does it start right up, or does it take a lot of cranking?

What I am understanding from the guy working on it is that it cranks right up when the fuse is replaced. it's when he turns it off and tries to crank up again the fuse blows. I'll have to find out what other circuits share the starter fuse. Could a dealer tell me this information?

I don't have any confidence in dealerships, particularly on an advisory level.
But you could ask.
Here's a link to our service manual: http://www.thenissanpath.com/filelib/R5 ... ce/FWD.pdf

Thanks so much. It's in pdf and not letting select certain sections so I'm trying to download it online. I need to find what other circuits are on that starter fuse like mentioned.

eieio,
Okay the guy looking at it said that the relay to the far right which is the ignition relay, the wires running to it is getting hot. What else that you may know runs to the ignition relay?

what page(s) in the service manual reference it?
