How long should it take for the 4WD to disengage? Often I will switch to 2WD but the front wheels on the display keep blinking until I slow down and make a turn.

mine does the same thing. sometimes it disengages quick and sometimes it takes a good while

my lights don't blink when I switch back to 2wd. So basically, mine disengages when I switch back.

Do you have and AWD setting on your 4WD dial? I don't.

The 4WD light doesn't blink, just the LCD that indicates where power is going to. (4 tires)

When you switch back to 2wd your switching the transfercase in 2wd. After that the front axle has to disenguage. It will not hurt the axle if it stays in 4x4 mode. Some are just faster than others

Completely normal. I'd say that happens to me about 90% of the time I switch from 4hi to 2hi.

My '07 takes forever to disengage. If you switch to 2WD then stop, drive a few inches in reverse, and then go forward again it comes right out. I have to do this on snowy mornings to get out of my driveway (big hill!) to make sure I'm not in 4WD when I get on the highway 1.5-2 miles later.

yeh it happens to me as well but i think the disengage time depends on how long it was engaged in 4wd.. Nyways its a completely normal thing.

Not ture at all. like I said in my post above. The front axle is still in 4x4 after the t-case is in 2wd. Like it was said above, if you stop it goes out right way. The reason is the front axle sliding clutch can disenguage becuase there is no pressure on it from the steer drive wheels and sliding clutch fork spring can return it to 2wd.

i had to back a trailer into my driveway the other night and i put it in 4wd because i was backing up hill and around a bend and the ground was snow covered. when i switched back to 2wd i was stoped and the light flashed for a min or two before i got tired of waiting. drove forward and back a few feet a couple of times before it went out. i did not want to shut it off until the light went out cause i left everything hooked up for the night

my 4WD engages and disengages when I turn the switch. Driving at a slow speed and turning the switch to 2hi or 4hi hasn't given me any warnings or problems.

i made a terrible mistake by putting it in park and swithing to 4W LOW, then reversing when the gears wernt even complety engaged yet, put it back in park then swithed it back to 2W noticed a low clicking noise in the right passenger wheel when i drove.

Fixed the problem, by putting it in netrual switching to 4W LOW and driving for 200 yrds. put it back in netrual and switching to 2W and the clicking went away, i was worried i ruined my gears. sorry for the off subject post.

You should really never go from 2wd to 4Low. You need to shift from 2wd to 4wd then to 4Low. When going from 4High to 4low you should be in Neutral with your foot on the brake. The directions are on the visor

making a turn will disengage it from 4hi to 2
